ESSEX Chambers of Commerce welcomed Peter Ward, the commercial director of DP World London Gateway, to the Thoroughly Thurrock networking event on Monday.

He said: "London Gateway is the largest job-creation project in the UK. It is also the largest privately-funded infrastructure project, and is now going from being under construction to a live business, so we are throwing open the opportunity to local businesses to become involved."

Denise Rossiter, Chief Executive at Essex Chambers added: "Essex Chambers of Commerce have been working with DP World London Gateway during this journey for the benefit of our members and welcome the start of this magnificent boost to businesses in Essex."

After the presentation businesses had the opportunity to meet Peter and representatives of  London Gateway. The new Logistics Park and business opportunities it offers were a key topic for conversation and in true Chambers’ style networking was done, business cards exchanged, and new contacts made, all whilst enjoying canapés and refreshments in the beautiful surroundings of the award winning Orsett Hall.

At the next Thoroughly Thurrock in October directors from Essex and Suffolk Water will be discussing the impact of the Water Act on the industry and how the opening of retail competition means businesses will have a choice of their supplier.
