A MAN has been arrested after police were involved in a two-hour stand off in Southend.
Police, ambulances and fire crews surrounded a three-storey block of flats in Chalkwell Avenue, Westcliff, yesterday after a man was spotted on the roof.
Trained negotiators were sent to the scene to try and coax him down.
This morning, Essex Police said it had arrested 25-year-old Samuel Walker, of Chalkwell Avenue, Westcliff, at around 4.30pm yesterday.
He has been charged with assault in Grays on April 8, possession of class B - cannabis in Grays on April 8 and with failing to surrender to custody at Grays Police station having been released on bail for criminal proceedings.
He will appear before Magistrates in Basildon on August 28.
