A STYLIST to the stars from Chafford Hundred used a fake letter from a magazine to steal £368,000 worth of jewellery before selling it to clear spiralling debts.

Ojuri ‘Charles’ Adesanya, 29, a stylist to the likes of boy band JLS and award-winning Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain, used a bogus letter supposedly from Harper’s Bazaar China to obtain jewellery from stores and designers – claiming it would be used for fashion shoots.

One of his victims was the jewellery designer daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, Jade, whom he swindled £30,000 of gems from. He also bagged £143,000 worth from Ceila Weinstock, owner of Lyme Fine jewellery.

In total, Adesanya pocketed £367,949 of jewellery and pawned it cheap to pay off debts after encountering cashflow problems.

Adesanya, whose other clients include DJ Nick Grimshaw and singer Patrick Wolf admitted five counts of fraud and four of theft at Southwark Crown Court.

Nina Ellin, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was working as a stylist in the fashion industry.

“The letter relates to jewellery being borrowed for a particular photoshoot for a particular commission of the magazine. There was no photoshoot.

“He had cashflow difficulties and decided to pawn some of the goods. He accepts that in doing so he was acting dishonestly.”

Adesanya has since handed back some of the haul. He will be sentenced on Monday, July 28.
