THIS year’s Strawberry Tea event at Davy Down will be in memory of a hard-working and much-loved councillor who past away last year.

Diana Hale, a Labour councillor for Stifford Clays and trustee at Davy Down, died after a long battle with cancer in August.

Every year, she organised a Strawberry Tea event at the North Stifford riverside park and this year, Pam Thomas - a friend and co-organiser of the event in recent years - is taking up the responsibility of ensuring the day goes ahead this year.

Taking place on Sunday, July 20, the Tea, now in its sixth year, will enable people to enjoy strawberry tea while taking part in giant games, raffle and tombola at the park.

Proceeds from the day, which will begin at 2pm and run to 5pm and is free to enter, will go to the National Breast Cancer Charity. St Luke's Hospice and the local Macmillan nurses team.

Pam said: “Please come along and help us to make this our best Strawberry Tea ever, and to celebrate the previous work of Diana Hale.”
