FIREFIGHTERS cut free a lorry driver from his cab after a crash on the M25.

Emergency services were called to deal with the smash - which involved three lorries - between junction 30 and 31 of the M25 at 8.35am today.

Two lanes were closed initially but on arrival, the fire service - who sent three crews to the incident, including an Urban Search and Rescue unit - ordered a full closure so they could cut free the trapped driver.

He was released from the wreckage of his cab by 10am.

No serious injuries were reported, but one driver suffered minor neck injuries and was taken to Darenth Valley hospital in Kent.

The collision involved a white Mercedes box van, a white Mercedes arctic and an LGV Bedford.

There were long delays in the area as rush hour traffic was diverted off the M25 at Junction 30 and ordered to rejoin the M25 at Junction 31.

Queues stretched three miles back to Junction 29 for Romford and Basildon.

All lanes reopened shortly before 11am but delays are expected throughout the day owing to the backlog of traffic.

Probably some Romanian or Polish driver to busy texting his mate, rather than concentrating on the road.

To be fair, the British drivers are no better. Plenty of them on the phone and they insist on being right up the backside of whatever is in front of them.
