A TURKISH man who assaulted an immigration officer in Grays has been jailed for a year.
Mehmet Tozsu, 24, of Orsett Road, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possessing a false ID document, deception and assault.
He was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court and will be automatically considered for deportation at the end of his sentence.
Tozsu was arrested on May 28, when Home Office immigration enforcement officers visited Turkish Best Kebabs, in Orsett Road. When Tozsu was asked for ID, he presented a forged Cypriot ID card.
When a female officer moved to place him in handcuffs, he reacted angrily, grabbing her wrist and shoving her against a wall.
