A TURKISH man who assaulted an immigration officer in Grays has been jailed for a year.

Mehmet Tozsu, 24, of Orsett Road, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possessing a false ID document, deception and assault.

He was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court and will be automatically considered for deportation at the end of his sentence.

Tozsu was arrested on May 28, when Home Office immigration enforcement officers visited Turkish Best Kebabs, in Orsett Road. When Tozsu was asked for ID, he presented a forged Cypriot ID card.

When a female officer moved to place him in handcuffs, he reacted angrily, grabbing her wrist and shoving her against a wall.

If the LIB/LAB/Cons get their wish, Turkey will be in the EU in the near future. Something to think about at the next election.

Do not waste tax payers money by keeping him in jail, deport him and make sure he never comes back. Well not until Turkey are in the EU and he is allowed to come back of his own free will.

As he produced a forged Cypriot ID, I think that was enough proof that he is an illegal immigrant tbh.

Why wait a year a year before deporting him? Now the tax payer has to support him. Ship him off now and save the tax payer some money for a change. Or better still, if the money really has to be spent, put it towards the departments that are in place to prevent illegals in the first place.

I am surprised he didn't claim he had a child here . He could then have used the the Human Rights Act - family life section - as a reason to avoid deportation.

This tactic is often used such as the recent case of the Ivory Coast postman ( yes folks this must be too difficult for white Brits) to avoid deportation for 500k worth of credit card fraud, because he has children in the UK.

What would papa Aker say to his son Timur Aker MEP if he knew his son as Thurrock's Euro MP didn't lift a finger to save his fellow Turkish countryman from being deported, or has he got a job lined up for soon to be ex councillor Robert Ray, wannabee best employee of the year, at Turkish Best Kebabs at Orsett Road?
