SOUTHEND United reporter Chris Phillips gives his analysis of Saturday's big World Cup battle between England and Italy.
"I can see this being quite a tight and nervy affair with not many goals being scored.
"With this being the opening game of the tournament, neither of the sides will want to lose and I think it is likely to end up as a draw.
"However, England do have the pace in the team to be able to hurt the opposition and it will be interesting to see how Raheem Sterling performs under pressure.
"I still remember seeing him five goals for Liverpool’s youth team game against Southend United a few seasons ago in one of the best individual performances I’ve ever seen.
"I’ve also been impressed by Ross Barkley in the warm up games and hope to see him getting on the pitch at some point."
