I like living in comfort.

My fiancée and I recently upgraded to a fancy mattress for our bed at home and I can safely say it has revolutionized something as simple as going to sleep.

So when I was asked to try out the ‘Rolls Royce’ of beds by Travelodge my mind started racing. The ten-year-old inside me envisioned one of those beds inside a racing car I was never lucky enough to experience as a youngster but that was just wishful thinking.

However, the alternative was just as satisfying.

The Travelodge is wheeling out the new ‘Dreamer’ by Sleepeeezee across its hotels and it will soon by unveiled at the Thurrock hotel, just off the M25, as part of a £223 million brand investment at Travelodge.

I tested out the new bed at the Travelodge Cambridge Newmarket Road Hotel and was very impressed.

The hotel room was everything I expected – with simple yet stylish décor including a desk, wardrobe space and ambience lighting behind the bed – a handy and effective addition.

The pocket-sprung mattress meant that when I got up in the night, my other half wasn’t buffeted this way and that as I lurched out of bed. I can safely say it was one of the best night’s sleep she, or I, have enjoyed in a while.

The hotel, based at Thurrock motorway services, provides ideal links to shopping destination intu Lakeside and is within an hour of other top Essex attractions, such as Southend sea front and Adventure Island.

Thank you to all the staff that made our stay very enjoyable.

When the refurbished room is rolled out in Thurrock it comes highly recommended.
