A MAN has been charged with driving uninsured after a battered car was found abandoned.

Unemployed Richie Ireton, 24, of Giffords Cross Road, Corringham, will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on June 5 charged with driving the silver Ford Fiesta without insurance after it was found abandoned off High Road, Basildon, in the early hours of March 29.

It was found with extensive crash damage but officers were unable to determine what it had hit and Corringham was arrested at his home a few hours after the crash before being released on police bail pending further enquiries.

After being charged he was again released on bail awaiting his court appearance.
