HIGH School Musical fans are wanted to star in a theatre production of the Disney hit.

Grays’ Thameside Theatre will be holding open auditions for RARE Productions’ staging of the play tomorrow and Sunday and is looking for talented young people between the ages of eight and 21.

Director Sinead Gibson said “We had a wonderful time producing Annie and it was a real pleasure to work with such talented and enthusiastic young people.

“We know many of our Annie cast will be auditioning again and we’re hoping to see plenty of new faces as well.

“High School Musical is a really exciting show to be a part of and we know that everyone involved will have a brilliant time.”

Set in East High School, the musical follows the exploits of basketball team captain Troy Bolton and new student Gabriella Montez as they audition for the school’s winter musical.

They are met with resistance from twins Sharpay and Ryan, who do everything they can to sabotage their auditions, seeing the roles as rightfully theirs.

Thameside’s stage version of the hit trilogy includes all the top songs including Start of Something New, Stick to the Status Quo and We’re All in This Together.

Auditions will be held at the theatre on May 15 between 4.30pm and 5.30pm for those aged eight to 12, and 5.30pm and 6.30pm for those aged 13-21.

These will be followed by further auditions on May 18 between 12.30pm and 2pm for those aged eight to 12, and 2pm and 3.30pm for those aged 13-21.
