CELEBRITY Big Brother winner Rylan Clark had fun casting his eye over this elephant statue in Corringham Town Park.

And he will be now decorating the blank canvas model before entering it into a national tour at Lakeside Shopping Centre.

The X Factor star, 25, from Stanford-le-Hope, will see his decorated elephant join dozens of others to launch a 90-day online auction to raise funds for the Asian Elephant Foundation, an international conservation charity.

People will be able to bid on a tour elephant or make a pledge to the Asian Elephant Foundation.

Last week, judges - including Gazette editor Gary Pearson - went to St Thomas of Canterbury school to choose the winner from hundreds of elephant designs submitted by pupils.

Karis Barlow, nine, a pupil at St Thomas, was one of those whose colourful entry was picked out as a winner. She, along with a pupil from both Aveley Primary and Herringham Primary Academy, will now get the chance to paint their very own elephant statues - just like Rylan.

Their elephant designs are currently standing alongside his at Lakeside as part of the national tour which stopped off at the shopping centre on Monday [May 5].

Their designs will be on show at the centre for four weeks.

Izzie Peskett, marketing manager for intu Lakeside, said: “It was incredibly difficult to pick our winners from the hundreds of fantastic entries we received but we can’t wait to see the winner’s completed elephant statues.”
