PERSONAL Journey Planners will be knocking on doors in Stanford-le-Hope, Corringham, Tilbury, East Tilbury, Linford and Orsett offering travel advice in the next few months.

The aim is to let residents know that there are healthier, more environmentally-friendly and cheaper ways to get around the borough than driving.

Ann Osola, Thurrock’s Head of Transportation and Highways, said: "Personal Travel Planning is proven to work. Many people are not aware that there are smarter ways to travel that are healthier and you can save money.

"Personal journey planners are extremely useful in highlighting alternatives that residents may not be aware of such as local bus routes and cycle paths."

Around 13,500 homes in the east of the borough will be visited to encourage more people to car share, or use alternatives to cars for local journeys.

sadly I agree with cynic. I got advice on using buses instead of a car but you never see a bus at the time of day I leave for work.

I-say-you-say says...

Make buses/trains cheaper, easier and as comfortable and convenient as a car and perhaps I'd consider it.

I can guarantee I'll be treating these time and money wasting idiots the same as I do others that knock on my door uninvited and unwanted....by ignoring them!
