A WARTIME tribute concert in Corringham will celebrate the likes of Vera Lynn and the Andrews Sisters when it comes to town in June.
On stage at the Corringham Hall will be two acts celebrating the music from the era – the D-Day Girls and Peter Wayre.
The D-Day Girls have won national fame with their popular stage show, which combines the vocals of the three members, Katie Ashby, Laura Jean-Clinton and Nichola Roberts, as well as swinging choreography and a dazzling backdrop of film footage from the Forties.
Featuring songs from greats such as Gracie Fields and Anne Shelton, the show from the D-Day Girls takes audience members on a journey from the shores on England across the pond to the United States in one evening.
Also on the bill is Peter Wayre, who showcases a unique Forties experience with the incorporation of music hall sing-a-long songs, jazz, swing, big band and ragtime.
Favourites from stars such as Bing Crosby and George Formby will have audiences dancing, with Peter always encouraging the audience to sing along, clap and tap their feet.
If audiences are really lucky, he may pull out his harmonica or piccolo to add a cheeky variety.
The show, on June 6 – the 70th anniversary of D-Day – at 7.30pm, will raise funds for the Royal British Legion and the soldiers’ charity ABF.
Tickets are £10 and are available from event organiser Steve Fisher by e-mailing him at steveacf@hotmail.co.uk
