THE dates have been set for the 2014 Thurrock Art Trail.

The event, now in its third year, aims to showcase a variety of works of art.

It will take place between Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 21.

It is hoped the number of artists taking part this year will increase, as it did last year. Last year, twice as many artists took part as in the trail’s inaugural year.

This year, events will be held in Corringham, Stanford- le-Hope, Horndon-onthe- Hill, Grays and Purfleet.

But Tim Harrold, from the event’s steering group, hopes to see events in every community in the borough.

He said: “It is intended as a celebration of creativity and we encourage people of all ages, cultures and abilities to get involved.”

Library foyers, community buildings, churches, pub function rooms, cafes and private houses have been transformed into art venues in past years.
