A REVAMP of The Precinct post office in Corringham has been welcomed.

The branch on St John’s Way is set to become a “main style branch”, and will feature more of an open-plan design.

The makeover is part of a three-year programme from the Post Office that will see more than 6,000 branches converted.

Stanford East and Corringham Town Tory councillor Phil Anderson said: “This is a real vote of confidence in Corringham and a welcome investment in our community.

We know that people who come for post office services often stay to use other local shops and cafes too.

“Hopefully, this is a sign that business confidence is returning and that Corringham town centre has a bright future ahead of it.”

As part of the revamp, the branch will be closed from the evening of Wednesday, April 23, until lunchtime on Friday, May 9.

The nearest alternative post offices are in Corringham Road, Stanford-le-Hope, and Horndon-on-the-Hill.
