A BISHOP recently handed out items at the Purfleet distribution centre of the Thurrock Food Bank.

The Bishop of Bradwell, the Right Reverend John Wraw, joined volunteers at St Stephens Church on London Road, to hand out items such as canned soup and biscuits to those in need of help.

Last year, over Thurrock Food Bank helped out more than 3,000 people in the borough.

Mr Wraw sad: “Thurrock Food Bank does a fantastic job in offering much needed support to families and individuals across the Borough.

“I was impressed by the warmth and welcome that was offered by the volunteers, and was shocked by the challenges and difficulties people are facing – a family with no food in the house and just £3 to last them over the weekend.”
