CHILDREN’S TV presenter Lloyd Warbey was recently at South Ockendon’s Phoenix Centre creating big art.
Warbey, who’s mostly known for his role on Art Attack, helped pupils at the centre on Corve Lane create pieces that were based on their current topic of learning – Ancient Egyptians.
The aim of the day was to give pupils an opportunity to develop their creative and artistic skills with a popular and well-known TV personality and artist as well as helping them develop their team-work, collaboration and co-operation skills.
Lloyd was delighted to run his own bespoke master-class specially designed for the individual needs of the pupils.
He said: “From a young age I have always been inspired to be creative and expressive through art, so it’s wonderful to be in a position to help inspire a new generation to develop their personal confidence and creativity through art also.”
Assistant head teacher Doreen Ellis said: “We were really pleased that Lloyd was able to give up his time to spend with our pupils as he is such a well-known TV personality.
“He was very inspiring, particularly being a local young man, and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day, producing a fantastic piece of art.”
The Phoenix Centre in Corve Lane is Thurrock’s Primary Pupil Referral Unit.
