WITH the arrival of spring, Thurrock Council’s Langdon Hills’ ranger team are getting ready to launch its environmental clubs for young people in the borough.

The Junior Nature Club is for those aged eight to 11 and run from 10am-12pm and is £3 a session one Saturday a month until November.

The Youth Ranger Service is for older children, aged 12 to 16 and is held from 1pm-3pm on the same Saturday.

The junior club is focused on learning about wildlife and how to conserve it. Meetings typically involve active games, crafts and outdoor activities.

The Youth Ranger Service covers similar topics, but in greater depth. Members get involved in practical management tasks around the park while having fun and learning new skills.

Both groups meet at Westley Heights on the following dates: March 22 - Bonkers about birds, April 19 - Easter Eggstravaganza, May 17 - Grassland explorer, June 14 - Minibeast mayhem, July 26 - Woodland explorer, September 20 - Conservation day, October 18 - Halloween Challenge, 15 November - Tree dressing workshop.

Places are limited for both clubs and people are asked to book in advance via email at Langdon.hills@btconnect.com or by calling 01268 542066.
