AVELEY resident and author Sharon McGovern will speak of her journey of trying to make sense of the abuse she received from her stepfather and discuss the consequences of it in a talk tomorrow night (Thursday, March 13).
The event at the South Ockendon Centre, in Derry Avenue, will give people the chance to hear Sharon’s shocking and challenging life story.
Inspirational Sharon, a street rep in the village, has never allowed herself to be a victim, and sees herself as a survivor.
Her motto is: “Change the way you think to change the way you feel”.
There will be refreshments and the opportunity to ask questions.
Tickets cost £2 and are available at the library in the centre or by calling 01708 851212. The event starts at 7.30pm.
