IN the latest part of our new weekly feature, we speak to John Coveney, 28, who has just set up his own removal company, Johnny Move It Removals.

John lives in Corringham, but grew up in Tilbury.

He hopes his self-belief in starting up his own business in the area will inspire others to do the same, and keep Thurrock the thriving borough it is.

Q) What advice would you give to people wanting to set up their own business in the borough and why did you start up a business here?

A) My first bit of advice would be to market research the area – you must try to stand out from your competitors. With my company we do tailormade quotes for each individual, as opposed to offering packages, which often people don’t need.

Q) What do you love about Thurrock and what is it that’s kept you here?

A) I enjoy being part of Thurrock because of the community. I have grown up here, have many friends and my family are all local.

Q) How do you see the future panning out for the borough?

A) Thurrock will really benefit with what is being lined up in terms of industry, including all the new homes being built, which will hopefully benefit my newbusiness.

Q) How do you think other parts of Essex see Thurrock?

A) Thurrock has a lot to offer, including good schools and good career prospects with the likes of the new port opening. The new opportunities will make this a vibrant place to be.

Q) And finally, what’s your view on the Gazette?

A) The Gazette is a great source of business, community and general news in Thurrock. Life would be a lot different without it.
