THREE Thurrock Scouts will embark on the adventure of a lifetime next year when they represent the county and the UK at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan.
Jamie Stock, Lilly Adcock and Megan Ford, all 15, who attend the Orsett, Ockendon and Stanford-le-Hope groups respectively, will be heading to Kirarahama in July and August 2015.
They had to go through a number of challenges and interviews to prove why they deserved to go on the trip.
During the Jamboree, they will join 30,000 Scouts from around the world and will camp and work together for ten days, learning about other countries and cultures.
But first the three will undertake a series of fundraising activities to collect the £3,225 they each need to attend.
Lilly said: “I am looking forward to the sheer amount of people that will be there and the atmosphere this will create.
“It’s going to be fun and exciting that I will meet new friends for life from across the world.”
