A TEENAGE girl was taken to hospital with head injuries following a collision with a van in Purfleet.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Tank Hill Road shortly after 4.30pm on Tuesday.
The incident happened outside the care centre, near the road's junction with Centurion Way. Both roads were closed for around an hour.
Police said the incident involved a teenager and a white Vauxhall van.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.39pm to reports a teenage girl had been knocked over by a vehicle.
"She was taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital with a head injury, however this is not believed to be life threatening."
