A CHILD was taken to hospital with suspected head and facial injuries following a road accident in Chadwell St Mary earlier today.

The incident, which involved three vehicles, also saw an adult taken to Basildon Hospital with suspected back injuries.

The incident happened about 2.30pm on Defoe Parade. An air ambulance was called to the scene but was stood down.

An ambulance spokesperson wasn’t able to confirm the gender or age of those injured.

A police spokeswoman said they were at the scene of a road collision which happened when a blue Renault Clio, Black Ford Galaxy and a Black Vauxhall Corsa struck each other.

They added: “A section of the road has been closed while emergency services deal with the incident at the scene.

“Two people have been taken to Basildon Hospital after sustaining a variety of injuries.”
