PUPILS from Grays Convent High School joined others from the borough in visiting Poland and the Auschwitz concentration camp.
The trip was part of an initiative in the borough to teach youngsters about the Holocaust and give them an opportunity to reflect on the dangers of discrimination in society. It took place ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day.
Pupils Amy Gore, Aquila Probha, Magdalena Jaworska and Emily Prosho went on the trip and said: “This will have a lasting impact on us.
“We knew about the Holocaust before we travelled to Poland, but seeing things like the gas chambers and the collections of luggage and clothing taken from prisoners brought the reality home to us.”
