HIP-HOP legend Ms Dynamite has been announced as one of the first acts for this year’s inaugural Essex Fest.

The two times Brit Award, three time Mobo and one time Mercury Prize winner will join the bill for the event set to take place in Orsett in July.

The gig will be a return to the stage for the chart topping sensation, who’s songs include Dy-na-mi-tee and It Takes More, who has been working on a new album since 2011, after taking a break from music.

Other acts announced for the festival over the weekend of July 19 and 20 include alternative rock band Fight the Dice, live looping human beat box Thepetebox and Kiss FM DJ Charlie Hedges.

Also announced in the first wave of acts appearing will be drum’n’bass artist Shy FX and rapper Donae’o and X-Factor contestant Misha B.

Up to 8,000 people are expected to descend on the Orsett Showground, Rectory Road, and tickets are already on sale.

The weekend will also be raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK, and is giving local businesses the chance to pitch a stall at the event.

Founder Milford Parker said “EssexFest will bring not only big names in music but also local unsigned talent.

“We are very excited and cannot wait to announce additional acts including our headliners closer to the event.”
