Trains were delayed between Upminster and Pitsea tonight after a signal failure.
c2c services in and out of London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness were delayed and cancelled after the problem occured just before 5pm.
The company's Twitter page reported the 17.05 and 17.07 departures from Fenchurch Street were cancelled as well as the17.13 from Laindon. Other services to Shoeburyness ran via the loop.
Buses were ordered for journeys to West Horndon, Laindon and Basildon from Upminster/Pitsea.
Tickets were being accepted on Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street and Southend Victoria.
Crowd control measures were also put in at Fenchurch Street to control the amount of people going into the station.
The line was cleared and reopened by 6pm.
