A LORRY driver is to be prosecuted for dangerous driving following a nasty crash in Stanford-le-Hope.

The accident happened shortly before 10am on Tuesday when a lorry owned by Foley and Miles Haulage ploughed into the driver's side of a black Ford Ranger as it came round the bend for the junction of Wharf Road, London Road and Corringham Road.

The air ambulance was called to the scene, but the female driver - a 29-year-old woman from Tilbury - was taken by land to Queen's Hospital, Romford.

She suffered head injuries and possible pelvic and leg damage. Her injuries are not said to be life threatening, however.

The lorry driver is being prosecuted for dangerous driving and will be summonsed to court later this year.

The incident caused long delays in the town centre.
