A DESPERATE plea has been made for people not to forget St Luke’s Hospice’s Christmas appeal, because donations lag thousands of pounds behind previous years.

Volunteers from the hospice in Nethermayne have delivered 150,000 donation envelopes to houses around the borough. It wants to raise £20,000.

So far they have only collected £14,000, £3,000 behind last year.

Marilyn Debattista, head of revenue development, said: “For quite a period hospice income has been very inconsistent. We hope there are still people, businesses and organisations who wish to support our appeal and may not yet have sent it in.’’

Donations can also be made by debit/credit card on 01268 524973 mentioning Christmas Appeal, or by texting STLK10 and the donation amount, up to a maximum of £10 to 70070.
