A YOUNG girl from South Ockendon who suffers from cerebral palsy can now sit in comfort after she was donated a specialist chair by a children’s charity.

Daisy-May Summerhayes, 4, also suffers from Hydrocephalus, a condition resulting from too much fluid on the brain, and was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and, despite receiving treatment for this condition, still experiences regular seizures.

Daisy-May uses a walker and a specialist buggy, but had outgrown the chair, but the donation from Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children and high street store Marks and Spencer will mean she can maintain a good posture and ensure she doesn’t develop spinal or hip problems.

Her mum, Claire, said: “The new chair offers Daisy-May a comfortable option to her work chair. She can now sit in front of the television and relax with the rest of the family, with a lap strap to keep her in the correct postural position and safe. It’s great to see her feeling more relaxed.

“And if she is unwell we can recline the chair so she can have a sleep without having to move her.”
