POLICE are looking for a man suspected of attempting to burgle a house in Orsett - soon after he had detained a woman in a church.

The man attempted to break into a house on Grosvenor Road, Orsett on Monday, December 16.

It is thought the same man locked a woman in St Margaret's Church, Stanford-le-Hope at around 3pm on the same day, speaking with her at length before leaving when someone else arrived at the church.

An Efit - put together with the help of the woman who was locked in the church with the man - has been released by police.

He is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, slim, athletic build, dark hair, with grey flecks, cut very short and aged around 40-45 years. He also had broad shoulders, prominent cheek bones and dark coloured eyes.

The man is also suspected of committing various other offences.
