A POPULAR music duo from Thurrock are hosting a fun-filled talent show in aid of the Karis May Darling Foundation - which is set to feature a young star from this year’s X Factor.

Alana Connor and Michael Fredericks who have performed across the borough as Filthy Gorgeous are giving youngsters the chance to take the stage.

One of those youngsters is Luke Britnell, from Canvey Island, a star of this year’s X Factor.

The talented teen just missed out on a place in the ITV show’s live finals but will be on hand on Saturday, December 28 to help raise money for the Karis May Darling Foundation.

The Crooked Billet in Stanford-le-Hope is the venue for the show. A number of under 16s will take part in the event, showcasing their talents for fun, not prizes.

Father Christmas and Hello Kitty will also be at the event and face painting will also be on offer.

Filthy Gorgeous have become a household name in Thurrock in recent years. In August, they hosted an event at the Crooked Billet with another local singer, Danny White, where money was raised for Blu Hill, a Chadwell St Mary tot with Cerebral Palsy.

Now, they’re raising funds for the Karis May Darling Foundation, which was set up by the parents of tragic Karis Darling who died suddenly two-and-a-half years ago when she contracted streptococcus A, which can develop into meningitis, just weeks before her 13th birthday.
