4:49pm

Sappleton does brilliantly to keep the ball alive after a loose bit of play finds the striker. He pulls back to Layne who turns well and shoots high across the keeper who claws it away!

Three added minutes to find a winner!

4:46pm

4:46pm

And again! Poole with the corner is met at the far post by Kizzinbut his header loops over the keeper and hits the post. So close!

4:44pm

Rocks sub - Joe Paxman replaces Mckenzie.

4:43pm

So close to a Billericay winner! Benjamin does brilliantly and his cross is met by Layne who looks certain to score. However a combined block by Mott, Sheehan and Peddie stop a certain goal.

4:41pm

Booking for Stephen.

4:40pm

Almost a spectacular winner from Rocks! McKenzie's nice back heel falls to Hopkins whose cross is met with a bicycle kick from Hallett. The ball goes just over though.

4:39pm

Ricay sub - Ekim is replaced by Isaac Layne

4:38pm

Bryant nips the ball away from Beavan and is in but his cross just misses Mckenzie and is cleared.

4:36pm

4:36pm

4:35pm

4:35pm

That is the big Jamaican's second assist of the afternoon. He has been excellent.

4:32pm

Brilliant play from Sappleton who beats Peddie to the ball and fires in a terrific cross under pressure for the on rushing Robinson, who had been on the field less than a minute, to equalise unmarked in the box!

4:31pm

Equaliser for Billericay!

4:30pm

Ricay sub - James Robisnon replaces Callum Webb

4:30pm

Mott claws a ball away from under his crossbar after a vicious in swinging corner. Good keeping.

4:27pm

Bryant has been clinical today but Edwards will feel very frustrated if they don't get something out of this.

4:25pm

Billericay sub -Joe Benjamin on for Luke

4:24pm

A ball is fired forward by Sammons and it is beautifully controlled by McKenzie who runs onto his cushioned touch to strike at goal. It is well saved but the loose ball falls to Hallett whose cross is knocked away again but blasted in on the volley by Bryant. Wonderful technique.

4:22pm

What a goal David Bryant!!

4:21pm

Luke, who has had no impact at all, runs down the right wing but is well marshalled by Stephen.

A few visiting players warming up for Craig Edwards' side.

4:19pm

The away side are really forcing the tempo now with Webb and Ekim really prominent players for Ricay.

4:17pm

Ekim is fouled by Hopkins cynically on the half way line and he is lucky to escape a booking. Resulting freekick is cleared.

4:15pm

Sammons slides in on Webb in the box and the away fans are shouting for a penalty but nothing doing from the ref. looked touch and go.

3:46pm

East Thurrock 1-1 Billericay Town. Very good half of football. I can't pick the winner!

3:46pm

Bryant with a terrific low freekick that is tipped aside by Lumley. A good save but one he would have been expected to make.

3:45pm

3:45pm

That goal for Ekim comes in the week he was signed to the club on loan from Welling. Webb also crossed the Thames on loan.

3:43pm

So close to a Rocks goal! Bryant beats his man and hits the crossbar after striking across the keeper from an angle. What an effort.

3:41pm

The ball is played forward by Poole and Sappleton turns on a sixpence to bamboozle the Rocks defence. He squares to Ekim who slots home.

3:40pm

Equaliser for Billericay!

3:37pm

Luke is booked after a barge in the middle of the park. Seemed very harsh.

3:36pm

Great dummy from Hallett means Mckenzie is in but he is forced out wide and Sammons cross is easily claimed.

3:33pm

Great chance for Sappleton! He is played in by Beavan and, despite the offside claims by Sheehan, he is clean through and definitely onside. Glover gets back to force him wide and the big striker checks back inside before striking low at Mott. Good save.

3:31pm

Sappleton squares up to Dawson after he clipped him from behind. Ref steps in to diffuse the situation.

3:30pm

Hallett is clipped on the edge of the box by Kizzi but the ref plays a decent advantage and Bryant, who was running onto the loose ball, strikes the ball cleanly, only to see it deflect inches wide.

3:26pm

Webb and Ekim couldn't be much different to Sappleton up top. Both very small and neither are winning much in the air! Playing through Sappleton seems their best bet. Lumley is looking for the big striker with every kick.

3:24pm

Not a great deal was happening in this match so that goal is very welcome!

3:23pm

GOAL BRYANT! The corner is whipped in by Stephen and it flicks off Sappleton's head to the far post where Bryant volleys home!

3:22pm

Hallett wins a corner for Rocks.

3:20pm

Both teams need to get the ball down. Had about three minutes of head tennis and it's not great to watch!

3:18pm

Lumley goal kick finds Luke over the top but he is well marshalled and the ball is cleared. Sappleton isn't getting much early support though from Ekim and Webb.

3:16pm

A couple of freekicks from our wide fail to cause the away side problems. Moments later Hopkins hits a drive from 25 yards that strikes Beavan's arm, nothing given.

3:15pm

3:14pm

Tilbury have taken an early lead against the lead leaders in their Ryman North Division match! Fantastic.

3:13pm

Sappleton outmuscled Dawon but his shot is woeful and ends up nearer the corner flag. Neither side on top here at the moment.

Stephen's freekick is poor and is cleared.

3:10pm

Dunne and Halle sandwich Hallett and the home side have a freekick in a really promising position 20 yards out.

3:09pm

Sammons with a terrific slide to deny Poole who was closing in on the edge of the box after a pull-back from Luke. Well worked attack but excellently defended.

3:07pm

Sheehan vs Sappleton is looking like a real battle this afternoon.

3:05pm

Have been impressed with front pairing of Hallett and McKenzie when I have seen them this season. They are stretching the visitors back line already here. Although Ricay look good on the counter.

3:03pm

Good early start here with some hard tackles going in in the middle of the park.

3:02pm

Billericay striker Sappleton is a giant bloke. Has played for Leicester, QPR, and Macclesfield in the past.

3:00pm

Rocks kick off

3:00pm

Ricay winger Luke has a lot of strapping on his thigh. Will keep an eye on that.

Updates from 2.40

2:09pm

Good afternoon and welcome to the Thurrock Gazette's live text coverage of East Thurrock FC vs Billericay Town FC from Rookery Hill.
This Essex derby promises to be an exciting affair with both sides looking for points for different reasons. Rocks need the points drag themselves away from the drop zone, with only five points separating them from those relegation places.
Meanwhile Ricay currently have ten more points than today's opponents, and a win will push them back into play-off contention.
East Thurrock haven't actually won a match at home in the league since September 21 and have lost their last three matches in league and cup, whilst Billericay come into the match high on confidence, having beaten Margate on their travels on Tuesday.
John Coventry was speaking in the week about the importance of his centre back pairing of Steve Sheehan and SImon Peddie, with both one booking away from a suspension. They will have to be on their guard today with the tricky Joe Benjamin buzzing around the box.
It promises to be a good one!
