THE search is on for a new team of Thurrock youngsters to help build a name for themselves in the community.

The Prince’s Trust team, which is aimed at unemployed people aged between 16 and 25, will finish the 12-week course with four qualifications, including Food and Hygiene, First Aid, Health and Safety, and a national certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills.

A taster day is being held on Wednesday, January 22 at Thurrock Adult Community College, Richmond Rd, in Grays, between 10.30am and 2.30pm, with the course beginning on Tuesday, January 28.

The 12 week course will see the team take part in a week away from home, and work in and for the community.

Past community projects include building a sensory garden for children with special needs, repainting a hostel for homeless people, and building a pond for a local primary school.

The team has to decide how much the materials for the project will cost then organise fundraising events to pay for them before producing a time plan to keep them on target during their project.
