THE father of millionaire footballer John Terry has denied headbutting a man in a racist street attack.

Ted Terry, 59, of Chafford Hundred, is alleged to have assaulted Amarjit Talafair near Fenchurch Street station on March 22 this year.

Terry is also said to have hurled abuse at the man, including the words “****ing ****” and “black ****”.

He had been out in a group with Tudor Musteata, 47, who lives in Greenwich, and Stephen Niland, 36, from Romford celebrating Mr Niland’s birthday at the pub.

Terry appeared in the dock at the Old Bailey on Tuesday morning to plead not guilty to charges of racially aggravated common assault and a racially aggravated public order offence.

In August, Terry was forced to represent himself in court, after saying he could afford legal representation.

He told City of London magistrates he couldn’t afford the £340 fee for a lawyer, despite his son John Terry, the Chelsea captain, earning a reported £150,000-a-week.

Terry said he couldn’t afford legal representation after the fees changed from £300 to £340.

Chelsea defender John Terry, the former England captain, lives in a £10million Surrey mansion.
