East Thurrock United vs Dover Athletic

This live event has finished

  • Full time: East Thurrock United 1 - 1 Dover Athletic
  • FA Trophy, 1st Round
  • LIVE from Rookery Hill

So a late leveller by Dave Bryant - which may or may not have been an own goal - mean there will be a replay in Dover on Tuesday night.

Thomas Murphy's fortuitous goal in the 79th minute gave Dover the lead - breaching Rocks' exceptional defence. But in the 87th minute, Bryant had a deflected shot which beat Walker to set up the replay.

Enthralling game here. Bring on Tuesday night!

Thank you for following this afternoon's coverage. We'll be at Ship Lane on Monday night, for high flying Thurrock's Ryman Division One North clash.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Scores from elsewhere:

Aveley 1 - 1 Ware

Tilbury 1 - 2 Barkingside

Hampton and Richmond Borough 0 - 2 Grays Athletic

Thurrock 2 - 0 Waltham Abbey

East Thurrock United 1 - 1 Dover Athletic

And that's it!

Stephen's delivery punched clear by Walker.

Now Rocks have a free kick in a dangerous area. Chance for a cross from the right....

Is anyone going to get a winner here? Or will there be a replay on the south coast?

Stones plays in a free kick. Glover gets a head on it. It falls to Bellamy, whose shot is expertly saved by Mott. There's a Dover player there waiting to put it in, but Stephen clears off the line!!!

Peddie booked right in the corner for Rocks. Late challenge on Thomas.

But the free kick comes to nothing.

Three minutes injury time.

From that free kick, Stephen plays a long ball into the box. The ball bounces around before Dave Bryant's shot is deflected past Walker and ROCKS ARE LEVEL!!!!

GOOOOOAAALLLLL!!!!! EAST THURROCK UNITED 1 - 1 Dover Athletic - Dave Bryant, 87'

James Rogers into the book for a late challenge on Dave Bryant on the right hand side.

Sheehan is then booked for dissent.

Great ball in from the left by Wynter but yet again Sheehan heads clear.

Simon Glover is booked for dissent as Dover celebrate the goal. Unhappy about the challenge on Peddie.

The ball is played into the corner. Murphy chases it, beats Peddie to it - there are calls for a foul - he turns in field, plays a one-two with Wynter before his low shot from just inside the box deflects over Mott's head.

A real blow for Rocks who have defended magnificently.

GOOOAAL!! East Thurrock United 0 - 1 DOVER ATHLETIC - Thomas Murphy, 79'

Rocks winning the ball superbly at the back but there's no "out ball". Mckenzie and Hallet are lurking up top, but they're not being found.

Stephen is down injured in the Dover half now. Seemed to go down without anyone near him. He's back on his feet now though.

Long ball into the Rocks box by Stones, again, Sheehan is there.

First real prolonged spell of possession in Dover's half now for Rock's before the visitors collect and look to break.

Free kick is given though.

Rocks camped inside their own half now, but Dover are being restricted to shots from distance. Stones launches one now, but he could have done with the goal being significantly bigger. Not a great effort.

Long throw by Wynter, again Sheehan heads away. Imperious performance by the Rocks skipper.

His side up against it here though!

WHAT A SAVE BY MOTT!! Terrific run infield from the right by Bahare. He shoots from about 25 yards, across goal, but Mott flings himself across the goal and tips the ball wide.

The resulting corner is dreadful.

Great, quick counter attack by Athletic. Rocks fly into a couple of challenges as Bahare comes in from the right flank but eventually Peddie hoofs the ball clear.

That's the first time that the Rocks back four have looked truly exposed.

Peddie heads clear a Murphy cross.

All a bit untidy in the middle now. Sammons swings a leg at the ball and catched a Dover midfielder. He's shown the game's first yellow card.

Mckenzie heads just over for Rocks! Lovely ball in from the right by Thurgood, looped over be Mckenzie.

Dover sub: Michael Bahare on, Brian Woodall off

Great ball in, headed just over by Elder! Should have scored there.

The visitors are monopolising possession but struggling to breakdown a well drilled Rocks defence.

Wynter delivers a cross and Kinnear's shot deflects wide... corner!

Dover certainly on top at the moment. They come forward again but Stephen heads clear Stone's cross from the right.

Dover come forward again, but this time Stephen makes an excellent sliding challenge to dispossess Bellamy.

Super defending by the Rocks duo in the last 60 seconds.

Great ball into the Rocks box by Woodall from the left. Elder is there at the near post but Sheehan makes a fabulous clearing header.

Couple of efforts from Rocks now. The first comes from Dawson, a right footed strike from 20 yards that goes low and wide.

Then seconds later, Hallett works in from the left before lashing a right footed shot high and wide.

Free kick to Rocks as Thurgood goes down like a sack of potatoes during an aerial challenge.

The midfielder delivers the free kick. Easily cleared by the Athletic defence.

Long ball up the park towards Elder, it bounces over the top and Mott heads away. Only as far as Rogers though who goes to chip the wayward Rocks stopper, but his effort is high and wide.

At the other end, some great resilience from Bryant earns Rocks a corner.

It's flicked on at the near post. Sheehan gets a head on it from 10 yards but the ball bounces wide.

Nice strike by Rogers goes just over the bar. Best move of the half from Athletic - starting from a Wynter throw.

Peddie comes across to deny Murphy breaking through on goal, good clearance, too.

A non-descript start to the second half. As even as it was in the first. Ball in the air a lot.

Back underway at Rookery Hill.

Dover return for the second half, followed by East Thurrock.

Very good and even first half here. Once East Thurrock settled into the game, they caused problems.

They survived one scare when Bellamy headed onto the post, but Sheehan and Grover - on the whole - have been excellent. And Rocks have created several chances themselves.

Looking forward to the start of the second half here.

Scores from elsewhere:

Tilbury 0 - 2 Barkingside

Thurrock 1 - 0 Waltham Abbey

Hampton and Richmond Borough 0 - 1 Grays Athletic

Aveley 1 - 1 Ware

East Thurrock United 0 - 0 Dover Athletic

Free kick to East Thurrock right in the corner of the Dover half. Nice hold up play by Mckenzie draws a foul from Forbes.

Thurgood plays the ball in, it's headed clear and Stephen lashes a half volley from 25 yards over the bar.

Free kick to Dover inside their own half as Mckenzie raises his arm into Raggart's face as the pair compete in the air. Might have been a booking, but the ref says no.

Not as bad as Stone's pass from right back for Dover which spins straight out of play.

Nice play by Stephen. He tees up Bryant to cross, but it's a poor delivery which goes behind.

Four minutes until the break. This has been a really good first half. Dover in possession as I type.

And as I finish, they've lost it trying to force the issue...

Bryant runs across the edge of the box, short of options. Eventually he plays in Sammons whose first time shot is blocked.

Rocks coming into this game now. Good play between Mckenzie and Dawson sees Bryant played in. He lays the ball into Hallett with the defence retreating back towards their own goal, but Hallett's attempt to curl the ball across goal is blocked.

Excting stuff here at Rookery Hill!

Great battling by Dawson sees him dispossess Wynter in a dangerous area, but he slips and Athletic can regain possession.

Great chance for Rocks! Athletic's long throw is cleared, Dawson hooks the ball on and Bryant skips between two Athletic centre halves. He plays in Sammons whose low shot across the keeper is just wide.

Much better by Rocks. The Athletic fans unhappy, though, that the referee failed to penalise Dawson for what they thought was a high foot.

After a bit of to-and-fro, Wynter is released down the left and sticks a low cross in to the "corridor of uncertainty" which Woodall can't reach. It's put out of play by Stephen and Athletoc have a throw.

But now Rocks have a corner. Mckenzie chases a good throughball by Thurgood, Forbes beats the Rocks striker to it, though, conceding a corner.

Stephen's cross is collected by Walker.

Bellamy hits the post! Excellent ball in from the left by Murphy and from eight yards, Bellamy - unmarked - steers a great header onto the post.

Seconds later, Rocks are let off again as Elder shoots just over. Good spell for the visitors...

Wynter plays a free kick into the box, Grover there again. Sheehan and Grover playing well. But they're being forced into action often as Rocks fail to prevent crosses and balls coming into the box.

A cross by Wynter from the left bounces out of play following more good build up by by Dover.

Now Atheltic back on the attack, but Bryant tracks back from centre forward to win the ball back.

But again, nervousness on possession comes to the fore and immediately Rocks invite pressure back on.

Sheehan and Grover looking relatively comfortable at the moment though.

Now Rocks have a free kick in a good area. It's played in by Thurgood, Dawson gets a foot to the ball to guide it goalward but Walker claims.

Dover a little uncomfortable on set pieces? We'll see but early signs indicate yes.

Excellent header by Sheehan. Got something on it under pressure and Mott could gather.

Dover come down the right wing, but good defending sees Rocks win possession.

But Rocks are nervy on the ball. Grover plays his side into trouble with an aimless ball out wide and Athletic have a dangerous free kick now.

Ball to go into the box from the wide-left position...

Lots of people here for this one today. Dover Athletic have brought a very healthy number of fans. And it looks like many of the locals are here to cheer on Rocks, too, which is good to see.

Thurgood volleys from 30 yards out, but that effort is closer to the corner flag than the goal. All a bit rushed from Rocks at the moment.

Elder is slipped in y Murphy and gets a tame shot away, but the flag is up.

Tom Wynter drives a low ball across, well cleared by Sheehan. The visitors applying a bit of pressure here now.

Nice from Thurgood. Looking to get ball into Hallett's feet and then Peddie's, but the full back slips. Dover come away with the ball.

Bryant concedes a free kick midway inside the Dover half. Played up the Rocks' box, but it's well cleared.

McKenzie a little nonchalant as he goes for a one-two with Bryant and the hosts concede possession. Goal kick.

Chris Kinnear goes close for Dover with a decent strike from 20 yards, just over!

But it's been a tight opening six minutes here. Neither side giving an inch - but some signs of promise for Rocks who have had the best chance during the opening moments.

Today's vistors have lost just once in all competitions since September. That's 13 games with just one defeat - and they've won all of those they haven't lost bar a 0-0 draw with Havant.

Hallett gets away from the back four, but under pressure scuffs his shot as he bears down on the keeper. Easy for Walker to gather.

Dover sitting in 12th in the Skrill South league - one step above East Thurrock United who are 17th in the Ryman Premier League.

Rocks have opted for an attacking line up with three up top - Mckenzie, Bryant and Hallett.

We're underway here!
