Caravan set alight as trick or treaters take to Thurrock's streets
A CARAVAN was set alight in Chadwell St Mary as police report "lots" of anti-social behaviour incidents on Halloween night.
Essex Fire and Rescue Service were called to a burning caravan on Godman Road, shortly after 8pm, dispatching two crews from Orsett.
On arrival, the incident commander reported the entire caravan was engulfed in flames. Firefighters in breathing equipment had the fire out within 20 minutes and confirmed it was started deliberately.
Reports of the fire came just moments before Ben Hodder, Essex Police' district commander for Thurrock, said on Twitter that it had been "a very busy night", with "lots of anti-social behaviour incidents responded to by the teams across Thurrock working hard to meet demand".
Police and Thurrock Council had prepared for the evening by ensuring extra staff were on shift as trick or treaters took to the streets.
It is not clear at this stage if the caravan fire has been reported to police as an incident of anti social behaviour.
