Burlesque show coming to Thameside
8:10pm Sunday 27th October 2013 in News
ONE of Europe’s biggest touring burlesque shows is coming to the Thameside Theatre in Grays.
Straight from the capital’s West End, the show features some of the most talented burlesque dancers in the world and has received rave reviews from the UK’s national media.
The over-18s only show promises corsets, high-heels, stockings and shed loads of glamour.
Michael Taylor, the show’s producer, said: “The evening features an all-star cast of beautiful and elegant performers.
“Sparkling with couture costumes recalling the golden eras of burlesque, it’s the most glamorous show on tour.”
The show, which is called an Evening of Burlesque, is comprised of a mixture of musical and theatrical parody, magic, comedy and dance with the art of striptease.
It comes to the Thameside Theatre on Thursday, November 14.
Among the touring shows stars is “Yorkshire tease” Amber Topaz, the leading lady who has powerful vocals and an uncompromising stage persona.
Other stars are the Folly Mixtures, Ivy Paige, Miss Ooh La Lou and AJ James who dazzles audiences with his balance and wince-inducing knife throwing and juggling.
Michael, who produces other hit stage shows the Magic of Motown and Thank You for the Music, says the production is not sleazy and owes its success to a combination of “sultry vocals, breathtaking choreography, mischief, magic, frivolity and fun.”
He said: “It’s all tease, no sleaze and for that reason audiences are predominantly female.
“There’s a thriving burlesque scene in London’s West End.
“We’re proud to be bringing the cream of burlesque talent to a far wider audience.”
The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £20 or £18 for senior citizens.
