College link-up will help students get jobs

A COLLEGE has joined forces with a recruitment specialist to help students get the inside track on jobs and apprenticeships.
Since September, recruitment firm Reed has been helping students at South Essex College, which has a campus in Grays, to get ahead on applying for jobs.
The specialist has been working with charity NCFE to set up an employment brokerage team.
The team works with students and employers to ensure teenagers who are studying at level 2 and level 3 have access to job vacancies which are not publicly advertised.
They also help youngsters by giving them training in the skills they need to secure the jobs, including preparing CVs, application forms and interview skills.
Angela O’Donoghue, principal and chief executive at the college, said: “We want our students to not just be a success at college, but also when they leave us as well.”
