THE Tilbury Band are to host a special evening of music in tribute to a former trombonist.

Michael Foreman died after falling from a gallery bar at the Tate Modern in London on July 24 last year.

Mr Foreman, who was 48 and a senior bank manager at HSBC, had been a long-standing trombonist for the Tilbury Band.

On Saturday, October 19, more than 100 musicians are set to take to the stage to play in his memory.

The band are inviting any brass players or percussionists who knew Michael or would like to get involved to get in touch.

A spokesman for the band said: “This concert promises to be a tribute to all that is great about the brass band movement that Michael loved.

“It will feature a varied programme of music from old favourites to new publications.

“Following performances from the Tilbury Band and Tilbury Brass Academy, Thurrock’s leading brass training establishment, the concert will culminate in a massed band performance featuring some of the best brass musicians and conductors from across Essex and further afield.”

Tickets are available at www.tilburyband.com or via Greg White on 07717 228614, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
