New home for community chorus
7:00am Monday 7th October 2013 in News
A COMMUNITY chorus group will now be performing at the new-and-improved Ormiston Park Academy.
The Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus offers local people the opportunity to find their voice and join the group, which meets weekly during term time and is open to anyone aged eight and over, living in Thurrock.
You need no experience to join and will be able to develop singing skills over the course of the weeks as the group performs across the borough.
Stacey Campkin, from the Royal Opera House’s Learning and Participation team in Thurrock, said: “The chorus is thrilled to finally have a home. Ormiston has welcomed the chorus into the school with such warmth. The chorus has been made to feel really at home.”
Huw Derrick, Ormiston co-principal, said: “It truly is an honour to have a close relationship with Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus.
"It will expose our students to fantastic experiences as well as putting the academy, with its new building, into the heart of the community.”
The chorus meets every Monday between 7.15pm and 9.30pm at Ormiston Park.
