Second straddle carrier blaze at Port of Tilbury this year
AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a fire broke out on a straddle carrier at the Port of Tilbury.

The fire was the second to break out on a straddle carrier - a tall vehicle which moves containers about the port - in the space of four months.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they reported that the machines engine compartment was well alight. Crews spent two hours tackling the flames, using an aerial ladder platform to ensure they did not spread to nearby containers.
The fire was dealt with 3.30am and a probe into the fires cause has been launched.
On June 20, crews spent an hour fighting a similar fire on a straddle carrier at the port.
