Thank you for following today!
Remember to pick up a copy of this week's Thurrock Gazette for reports, reaction and pictures from an exciting FA Cup weekend.
So a pretty average performance from Blues, but they hang onto beat Romford.
Goals came from Joao Carlos and Kenny Beaney. Romford edged back into it when sub Eddie Hart scored. But despite a good effort, Boro couldn't find a winner.
GRAYS ATHLETIC 2 - 1 ROMFORD
It's Blues who progress into the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Blues half clear as Norcott looks at his watch and that's that!
Goal kick... one very last chance?
Eventually, they do hold the ball up. Grays have the ball in the Romford corner. They should see this out now.
Another couple of crosses from Romford, but there's no one there. Again though, Blues fail to hold the ball up after Johnson clears.
Hart crosses from the right, Johnson gathers. We're into stoppage time now.
Cruickshank lays the ball off to Carlos on the over lap. From a tight angle and some way from goal, he shoots but it goes straight across the face of the goal.
Then Francis crosses from the left, but Johnson gathers - just!
Free kick to Romford in a decent crossing position on the right.
Seymour whips it in towards the back post but Truman heads wide.
It's headed clear and as Seymour attempts to get the ball back in, he's tackled excellently by Beaney.
Romford are going for this now as rain begins to fall heavily on Millfield.
Francis has a cross blocked by Baker... corner...
Lewis Francis coming on for Romford. He replaces David Ottley.
Leon Lalite is replaced by Alex Cruickshank.
Dicks heads against the post! Hart plays a delightful ball across, which hangs in the air. Dicks connects with it but his thundering header cannons off the post.
Yet another offside against Romford.
Chuck Duru comes on for Jared Small.
Romford are up for this, Dicks shoots wide but you feel there's more to come in this game. About 11 minutes of normal time to play
So much petulance in this game. Players kicking out, poor tackles flying in. Hardly makes for a high-tempo spectacle.
Tom Richardson shoots low from the edge of the area, Johnson saves.
Now Pope fouls Richardson and the latter has a chance to whip in a free kick, but it's a dreadful effort, straight into the wall.
Another offside goes against Romford. They've had three or four in this second half.
Romford deserve that and they're right back in this. Eddie Hart, minutes after coming on, collects a through ball in the box and lashes the ball low past Johnson. Nightingill should have done better in preventing Abs Seymour playing the through ball.
GOOOAAALLL!!! Grays Athletic 2 - 1 ROMFORD - Eddie Hart, 67'
Couple of subs here.
For Romford, Eddie Hart replaces Robbie Norris.
For Grays, Jeff Hammond comes off for Jack West.
Grays double their lead! Against the run of play, Lalite fizzes the ball into Small, who can't gather but it spills into the path of Beaney who lets fly from 22 yards. His shot deflects off Scott Truman and beyond Aaron Oramd.
GOOOOAAALLL!! GRAYS ATHLETIC 2 - 0 Romford - Kenny Beaney, 61'
Corner to Romford now, as Baker invited a lot of pressure on to himself after giving the ball away.
The corner is played short before being put into the box, but it evades everyone at the back post.
Romford still on top here. They need to capitalise though.
Lalite floats a free kick into the box, but the linesman's flag is up
Grays yet to make any impact in the second half. The Ryman One North mid-table side are playing well here and looking far more likely to score than their hosts.
Jeff Hammond and Paul Clayton having to be separated here following a coming together in the box. Referee gives both a lengthy talking to.
CHANCE! Great chance for Dicks. The ball comes in from the right, again Blues fail to clear. Richardson tees up Dicks who controls, turns and volleys over from 12 yards.
We're back under way at Mill Field.
Scrap that. It's half time.
Grays Athletic 1 - 0 Romford
One minute added on.
Another decent opportunity. Seymour crosses from the right, Imbert is there but his header drifts over the bar.
Romford have given this a great go in the last 20 minutes of the half.
Good defending by Nightingill as Imbert charges down the left. The Blues centre half gets himself between man and ball to shepherd it out.
Free kick to Romford, 30 yards from goal, in line with the right hand edge of the box. Chance to cross... Seymour's effort is poor.
End to end stuff as we approach half time. Carlos has a shot blocked. The visitors have come close in the last few minutes and are playing well here, great end to the half.
Another chance for him. The ball comes in from the left, Imbert gathers it with his back to goal but can't turn to convert.
Imbert playing well here. Again, he gets in behind the Blues defence, but his cross-come-shot on the angle is cleared by Baker.
Now Imbert with a chance to chip Johnson, but he misses the target.
Now Johnson is booked for dishing out afters. It's scrappy and petty to say the least. Any danger of a football match breaking out?!
Grays have the ball in the net. Jeff Hammond flicks in Gonzalez free kick but the goal is chalked off for a foul in the box.
Jamie Dicks then goes into the book following a tackle on Lalite. That sparked a melee. But the referee sorts the mess and books Dicks.
Then Seymour is surrounded in the box, he goes down and to me, it looked like a penalty. There's a din from the Romford fans dotted around the ground, but the referee says no.
Romford should be level. It's a great ball into the box from the left. The ball lands - a little unexpectedly - at the feet of Abs Seymour. He controls but kicks air as he swings for the ball and Baker intervenes.
Jared Small takes a tumble in the box after a good run down the left. Was a blatant dive. Romford furious with some of the decisions here- Beaney is awarded a free kick midway inside the Romford half, then Carlos shoves Ottley off the ball in the box and the ref waves play on, much to the satisfaction of the Blues fans watching here.
The game's got a little scrappy. Neither side retaining the ball particularly well. Quite a few throws in the last few moments a number of misplaced passes.
Blues playing a 433 here. Romford are really struggling to cope with the pace of Small, Hammond and Carlos at the moment.
The visitors have barely had the ball in Grays half.
They have a corner now...
Gonzalez plays it in but Baker can't direct a back post header goalwards.
Good persistence down the left by Carlos to retain possession before a "weeey" comes from the crowd as Beaney attempts an audacious flick - and pulls it off.
All Grays at the moment.
Decent chance for Romford to hit back, but Johnson denies Abs Seymour at the post.
Blues lead and it's Joao Carlos. He's looked in the mood early on here, making decent runs into space and running at defenders with the ball at his feet. He's played through by Jeff Hammond, the flag stays down and Joao rounds the keeper before tapping into an empty net.
GOOAAAL!! GRAYS ATHLETIC 1 - 0 Romford - Joao Carlos, 7'
