SINISTER mystery arrives at the Palace Theatre on Thursday, so if the sunny weather’s made everything a bit too cheery for your liking, head on down for some dark entertainment.
Death Trap sees unknown and aspiring playwright Clifford send a copy of his play to Sidney in the hope of receiving feedback on his work.
But Sidney, a once successful playwright now suffering from writer’s block, finds himself so impressed by the writing, and the plot, that he ropes in his wife Myra to help him plagiarise the work, and pass it off as his own.
The pair concoct a plan that seems foolproof but, when Clifford turns up at their house, events take a sinister turn and the plot descends into a tense thriller.
The play arrives in Westcliff in the hands of touring company Talking Scarlet, and stars actors Stephen Beckett, Jo Castleton, Griffin Stevens, Claire Vousden and John Hester.
Death Trap runs at the Palace Theatre, London Road, Westcliff, from Thursday until Saturday, at 8pm. Sat mat 2.30pm. Tickets are from £10.50 to £21.50. Call 01702 351135.
