Windrush's historic arrival is remembered

Thurrock Gazette: The event at London Cruise Terminal The event at London Cruise Terminal

THE mayor and mayoress of Thurrock, Tony Fish and Sue Bradish, joined the mayor of Southwark, Cllr Abdul Mohamed, and Rose McDonald as a day of celebration took place to mark the 65th anniversary of SS Empire Windrush docking at Tilbury.

The ship landed on June 22, 1948, and led to the arrival of the first immigrants in the UK from the Caribbean.

On Sunday, there was a fun day at the London Cruise Terminal which included tours of Windrush exhibitions, music and educational workshops, a gospel choir and dance performances.

Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Thurrock Polly Billington, who attended the celebrations, said: “Tracing the steps of the travellers on the Windrush here in Tilbury was a moving experience.

“Without doubt Britain is a better place for their contribution to this country.”

While Britain was importing immigrants to work in our cities after the war - the Government was transplanting hundreds of thousands of people out of the cities and into new towns like Basildon, Harlow, Milton Keynes etc.

Perhaps Sister Polly could share the statistical evidence that provides irrefutable proof that the arrival of people here from the cairribean has made Britain a better place. I'm assuming Polly has similar evidence for the millions of people her party allowed in wiothout question the last time they were in government. No doubt Polly will have the same evidence for the millions they will let in if they gain power again.

Or could it be that this is a little Labour love in about their favourite topic, rigging elections in their favour.

She has no such proof and it's yet another pathetic soundbite from a Labour politician that is completely out of touch with the feelings of the vast majority of people who are less than convinced her party's mass immigration policies benefit anyone other than her party by spreading their voters out into areas the Labour party need to win seats at the next election to get their claws on power again.

They don't really care about immigrants. They use them as a means to an end and that's why the rest of us pay the taxes we do becasue we have to pay for their lies and downright untruth's.

^ Well said ebagumtrebor.

The number of totally unsubstantiated comments that dribble out of the foaming mouths of the multiculturalphiles is sometimes overwhelming.

I would love to challenge that career politician to objectively define how 'Britain is a better place' other than for the purpose of securing her a seat in Parliament.

The see no, speak no, hear no evil of mass immigration and multi culturism still spews out of the mouths of the so called political elites.

Nu Lab imported millions of immigrants as some sort of grotesque electoral gerrymandering experiment that will end up costing this country billions. It is still a party that supports lax immigration controls.

The emperor of mass immigration has wonderful clothes according to comrade Polly. Those who can see the ‘reality’ will be labelled as ‘bigots’ and other lazy clichés by the pro migrant stasi.
