A THIRD elderly victim has come forward following a spate of robberies at cash points in Grays town centre.

The trio of attacks, which happened between 10am and 11am on Tuesday, June 25, at the HSBC and Natwest cash points, saw elderly victims shoved to one side as they were withdrawing hundreds of pounds in cash.

While unharmed by the attacks, the ruthless robbers ran off with the pensioners' bank cards and cash.

Detectives are renewing their appeal for information after the third victim came forward but are keen to highlight their belief that these are isolated incidents. They are keen to speak to witnesses or any possible, further victims who have not yet made themselves known to police.

Police also want to identify two men described as black and in their twenties. It is thought one kept watch while the other carried out the crime.

Investigating Officer, DI Tracy Wheeler, said: "The high street is usually a safe place to shop and work so we are looking at these robberies as an isolated series of crimes. Personal security should be at the forefront of everyone’s minds no matter where they live, with extra thought given at cashpoints.

"We’ve got a good working partnership with the council and there is excellent CCTV coverage. We would ask that any witnesses to the three robberies contact us as they are likely to prove key witnesses."

Anyone with information in connection with these robberies is urged to contact detectives at Grays police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
