A NEW scheme has been launched to celebrate National Volunteer Week.
It is an annual celebration of the contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK and is taking place this week.
Ngage – the community organisation and volunteer centre, based at the Beehive Centre, in Grays – wants to encourage Thurrock organisations who use volunteers to recognise the valuable contribution they are making.
Ngage launched on Tuesday, at the South Ockendon Centre, a new project called VC Local, a pilot scheme for smaller satellite volunteer centres across the borough.
Ngage is currently registering volunteers to help out at some of the community events this year, including Thurrock Festival, which takes place on July 27 and 28.
