RESIDENTS enjoyed a community fun day in Corringham.
A community street party, held in Andersons and The Acres, was attended by residents young and old - some of the partygoers have even lived in the road since the first homes were built 50 years ago.
They took part in an international themed fancy dress competition and also had a visit from the Mayor of Thurrock Yash Gupta.
Phil Anderson, Conservative councillor for Corringham, said: “There was a great atmosphere at the community event, which was organised by local residents themselves. It was fantastic to see everybody going to such effort, meeting their neighbours and donning fancy dress.
“These events are a great way of bringing people together across the generations, and are something we need to do more in Thurrock. Street parties for your neighbourhood are one can organise, there are no licenses required. The council can help arrange road closures and community forums may be able to help with insurance.”
To arrange a street party call Thurrock Council on 01375 413365 at least 6 weeks in advance.
