A NEW soul band is promising to get people dancing when they hit the gigging circuit this year.

Seven-piece Superbad have been rehearsing since last August and are now taking bookings for soul nights, festivals, corporate events and weddings.

The group is Shana Elliott-Hayers on lead vocals, David Henley on keys, Ross Lawson on saxaphone, James Payne on guitar, Frances Redding (trumpet) drummer Dan Clarke and the mysteriously-named Mud on bass.

Shana, who works for Thurrock Music Services, explained: “We are now ready to go out and we are looking for weddings and gigs.

“I work with Dave, our pianist, and we got everyone together. He wanted to get a band together.

“We also do some up-to-date songs that have our own soul style. Every song we play is something that would make you dance.”

The band describe themselves as “not your average soul band” and its members have played in the past with the likes of Elton John, Eddie Floyd and Plan B.

With a vast repertoire, from Wilson Pickett to Beyonce, they are a music lovers’ band and aim to fill the dance floor at any event.

The group have recorded a new live demo which is available at http://m. reverbnation.com/artist/3297027
