Funding delight for church

AN HISTORIC church has been given thousands of pounds for repairs.

The National Churches Trust has confirmed funding of £159,500 to 48 Christian places of worship in England and Scotland to help pay for urgent repairs to roofs, stonework and windows.

The Grade I St Michael’s Church, in Fobbing, has been given £5,000 for repairs to windows, ironmongery and replacement of mullions.

Claire Walker, chief executive of the National Churches Trust, added: “I am delighted we are able to support repair work at 48 churches and meeting houses, which are much loved both by local people and by visitors who enjoy the beauty and history of these sacred spaces.”
